The Day the World Turned Day Glo

Gillian Wylde shares a teaser of her new commission for Moving Targets...

"For Moving Targets, I'm making a series of works that include; 'effervescently discordant' video collaged with writing, sound and performance.

The Day The World Turned Day Glo moves continuously and freely through closed systems and around ideas and punk attitude and punk process of DIY, low-fi, amateurism and failure, connecting blow-backs and debris of analogue, digital and the handmade.

Circumnavigating some of the more mainstream histories and narratives of the late 1970's the work revises, re-examines and re-centres punk sensibilities of queer, black and feminist voices with narratives of punk process and attitude in the 21st Century.

The Day The World Turned Day Glo appropriates and samples some of these idiosyncratic punk analytics mashing them with Sci-Fi futurisms and imaginations and the digital fluidity of a post-internet 'now time' world."

Gillian Wylde's foyer commission opens on 29 July and runs until 11 September.
