Containing over 700 items and including work by Robert Smithson, Ed Ruscha, Don Celender, Alison Knowles, John Furnival, and Richard Kostelanetz, the Arnolfini artists’ book collection is one of the largest collections of books made by contemporary artists in the UK. It is housed, along with the rest of the Arnolfini archive, at Bristol Archives where they are available to view.
To view a book, you will need to visit the public search room at the Bristol Archives and request it by its reference number (available from the catalogue here).
Several items may be requested at once, and you are welcome to pre-order items by telephone or email if you are planning a trip in advance. Occasionally items will be on loan for exhibition, so please check in advance if you are travelling especially to avoid disappointment.
