David Hendy studied history at St Andrews and Oxford Universities. For six years he was a current affairs producer with the BBC and he still broadcasts regularly. His five-part series for BBC Radio 3 in 2010, Rewiring the Mind, won the James W. Carey Award for Outstanding Journalism and was followed by his thirty-part series on Noise. His books include Life on Air: a History of Radio Four, which won the 2008 History Today-Longman Book of the Year Award and was nominated for the Orwell Prize. He is Professor of Media and Communications at the University of Sussex.
