Born in Sydney, Australia. He studied sculpture at the National Art School, Sydney 1957-59, left Australia in 1961 to travel in the Near East and Europe, and then lived in Athens. In 1962 he came to London and worked at St. Martin's School of Art. He worked as an assistant to Henry Moore 1963-65, returning to teach at St. Martin's in 1964. In 1965 he taught at East Ham Technical College and has been teaching at London University Art Teachers' Course since 1967.
