With a comprehensive library of contemporary art books, magazines, and a range of resources relating to our current programme, Arnolfini's Reading Room is a place to find out more about some of the ideas behind our exhibitions and events. We also house a near-complete collection of Arnolfini's programmes, going back to the founding of the organisation.
You are welcome to use the space for browsing, quiet personal study, or simply as a place to relax and reflect after a tour of the building. A member of staff is always on hand to assist you with access to the resources and any particular queries you may have. Free wi-fi is also available.
Further to the collection in the Reading Room, the Arnolfini artists’ book collection is one of the largest collections of books made by contemporary artists in the UK. It is housed, along with the rest of the Arnolfini archive, at the Bristol Record Office where they are available to view. For information on how to view the collection, see here.
Our Reading Room is open during gallery opening hours, Tuesday to Sunday, from 11am to 6pm.
The Reading Room is closed during exhibition installation periods, and occasionally for Reading Room events and Arnolfini courses.
