Two accomplished speakers discuss Francis Bacon’s art, ideas and impact. Dr Rina Arya
is a Senior Lecturer in Critical and Contextual Studies at the University of Chester. She will examine Bacon’s position as a social and cultural commentator in her lecture ‘Remaking the body: the cultural dimensions of Francis Bacon’. Dr Nicholas Chare, Leverhulme Research Fellow at the Department of History of Art and Architecture, University of Reading will consider synaesthesia in Bacon’s painting and the ways in which his art stimulates senses other than the visual.
