Join artists Simon and Tom Bloor as part of the Art in the City series of lectures. In this talk London and Birmingham based artists Simon & Tom Bloor will discuss the ideas and processes behind some of their recent projects, with a focus on those made for and about the public realm.

Simon & Tom Bloor’s recent practice has been preoccupied with a series of public commissions and exhibitions relating to the fabric of urban environments, children’s play and 20th Century art & design.  Through appropriating, distilling and adjusting a familiar modernist aesthetic the Bloors playfully navigate a territory where nostalgia acts as a sort of utopia in reverse, presenting relics of a future that never happened.

This presentation provides the opportunity to hear more about their work including recent commissions at West Town Lane Primary Academy in Bristol and as part of ‘Instructions for an Ordinary Utopia’, curated by Foreground Projects, Frome.
