Desert Rain
Location: The Industrial Museum, Wapping Road, Bristol
Bookings: Arnolfini Box Office
Desert Rain is a game, an installation and a performance that you must explore to find your target. In a world where Norman Schwarzkopf blurs into Arnold Schwarzenegger, Desert Rain looks for the faint line between the real and the fictional. Having received a briefing, each team of six visitors must work together to travel through real and virtual spaces, searching motels, bunkers, deserts and storms. You will use a footpad, travelators and video views to navigate across deserts and an underground complex. The virtual world – implemented using Nottingham University’s MASSIVE 2 software – is projected onto a screen of cascading water. Having completed your virtual mission two further rooms await you…
Created in collaboration and commissioned by NOW99, University of Nottingham and ZKM Centre of Art and Media in association with DA2.
