Boat tour & talk with Yrjö Haila, ‘Second Nature Urban Agriculture: Making Cities Productive’

Yrjö Haila is a leading expert on ecology and environmental sciences in Finland, as well as an ardent advocate of environmental protection and an active writer. Haila is Professor of Environmental Policy at the Department of Regional Studies of the University of Tampere. Haila's background is in philosophy and the natural sciences, particularly zoology. Haila will be connecting Richard Long’s work with Maria Thereza’s ballast plants. One of Haila’s major interests has been the symbolic force of various natural elements in our every-day surroundings, which will be discussed in this informal talk.
