A guided cycle ride led by Sustrans and culminating at a temporary ‘pop up park’ on Church Road.

The ride will take in the Frome Greenway along quiet, traffic-free streets.

The ride is designed to playfully explore how space shapes peoples’ behaviour and will show examples of residents reclaiming and caring for forgotten or neglected spaces. The ride will give participants the opportunity to see how residents along the route have taken control of the space around them and how can the urban environment meets the different needs of its residents and influences how people choose to move around within it.

Stops include:

  • Andalusia school and St Matthias Park area
  • Junction 3 of the M32
  • Eastgate roundabout
  • The chocolate factory and Whitehall school

The ride will begin outside Arnolfini and will end on Church Road, where Sustrans will be hosting a ‘pop up park’ on the high street, engaging residents in community led street design.

The ride will be led by Sustrans, and local residents and community groups will be invited to share their experiences along the way.

The event will last a maximum of 2 hours, with around 50 minutes ‘in the saddle’.
Children are welcome if they are able riders, and accompanied by an adult.

The ride is free but booking is essential.  Please book your space through Arnolfini Box Office in advance.

Please bring a bike in good working order and check the weather forecast in order to bring appropriate clothing.

This event is part of The Promise. The Promise is an exhibition project that focuses on the relationship between a city’s design and the hopes and ambitions of its residents. Exhibitions and events will take place in the Arnolfini galleries and across the city of Bristol throughout the summer.
