Double Daggers set up press in the Meeting Room at BABE 2017. Anyone prepared to 'ink up' can take a poster away with them.
All designers have to work within constraints; for Double Daggers that constraint is letterpress printing and last year saw the release of their newspaper (by the same name) which, through a series of articles written by a generation of today's designers & typographers, explored the constraints of working with analogue processes and how to benefit from them.
"We believe the page of letterpress printed text from hot metal type to be unrivalled for the crispness of its impression, the quality of its typefaces and for that illusive third dimension that is completely lacking in much of todays printing. The depth of colour, touch and even smell offer something completely different in todays world of print."
In anticipation of the release of ‘DD2’, Nick Loaring (The Print Project) and Pat Randle (Nomad Letterpress) are setting up press at Arnolfini where for the two days of BABE 2017 and with your help they will be printing posters from lead- & wood-type, laser cut shapes, resin cast type and lino. Double Daggers will be printing in the Meeting Room on Saturday and Sunday from 12-5pm and everyone prepared to ‘ink-up’ will be free to take their posters away with them.
