Taking inspiration from Electric Hotel (as part of Mayfest) this Double Bill from two cinematic greats takes a sharp look at privacy and proximity in New York apartment buildings. In one of Hitchcock’s finest movies, James Stewart’s recovering photographer gets voyeuristic thrills from watching his neighbours. In Wilder’s bleak comedy the apartment, Jack Lemmon’s junior exec butters up his bosses by loaning out his apartment to them for their extra-marital liaisons.
