Introduced by Josie Dolan

10 Rillington Place, Richard Fleischer’s 1971 dramatised true-story of serial killer John Christie and the miscarriage of justice that resulted in the execution of Timothy Evans epitomises British film noir in its depiction of bleak and grimy post-war Britain. With outstanding performances from Richard Attenborough as Christie, and Judy Geeson playing murder victim Beryl Evans and John Hurt as her husband falsely convicted of her murder, the film offers a powerful critique of capital punishment even as it chillingly depicts a pathological murderer.

The film will be introduced by Dr. Josephine Dolan, an expert on British biopics who lectures in Film at UWE.
