What is it that draws us to watch other people move their bodies under the lights of a theatre?
Dance Company is a joyful and unusual performance, which exposes the process of how a dance show comes about. Each of its 10 local performers rehearses alone, through instruction videos posted on YouTube. Tonight, for the first and only time, they walk on stage together to perform a choreography of simple warm-ups, exercises and theatre games.
OPEN CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
Choreographer Augusto Corrieri is looking for people to take part in this performance. No dance or theatre experience is necessary, and rehearsals will be 'virtual': in order to learn and practice the show, you watch a series of online instruction videos.
This is how it works:
Step 1. Go to www.augustocorrieri.com , open the About page, and click on Dance company virtual rehearsal space. Here you can watch an introductory video of the show
Step 2. If you are interested in performing the show, just send Augusto an email to say hello and why you'd like to take part. Skill, age, and experience are irrelevant, as long as you think you'd enjoy committing to this project. Each participants will receive £20 towards their expenses (food, travel, etc).
To take part in Dance Company, regardless of experience or age, please write to Augusto Corrieri at info@augustocorrieri.com by 29 January 2010
