Introduced by Paul Clarke of the Performance Re-enactment Society

In Nov 2005 at the Guggenheim Museum, Abramovic re-enacted seven seminal performance works by Bruce Nauman, Vito Acconci, Valie Export, Gina Pane and Joseph Beuys, and two of her own, interpreting them as one would a musical score. The seven pieces wereeach performed for seven hours over seven consecutive days.

Documenting this process, Babette Mangolte’s film, Seven Easy Pieces examines the possibilities of representing and preserving an art form that is, by nature, ephemeral.

This screening precedes the Performing Documents season on 14 & 15 Sep.

Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present screens at The Cube at 8.30pm on the same evening. Buy a double venue double bill ticket for £8 / 6 (available from Arnolfini box office in person or on 0117 917 2300 (no online bookings, sorry!) and head over to the Cube after the screening here.
