Salvage: A Hacker Farm Field Trip - Hacker Farm | Ashley Paul | Kemper Norton | IX Tab | Hugh Metcalfe | and much more

Saturday 28 September 2013 to Friday 27 September 2013, 11:00 to 22:00

Out of Place #1 - A mythical mystery bus tour to a secret deep South West location, for a long afternoon and evening in the company of cult Westcountry collective Hacker Farm.

Bus tickets for this event are now sold out!

A very limited number of tickets are NOW available without transport. You will be e-mailed details of the location prior to the event.

Expect out-in-the-wild performance, installations, film screenings, electronic campfire communion and the radical rattle & splutter of repurposed junkyard goods - all harvested over a unique rural-industrial site.

A site-specific interactive event that will find a Bristol-based audience travelling by bus for an afternoon and evening inspired by Hacker Farm's maverick DIY approach to instrument-building and composition, in the richly atmospheric surrounds of a semi-derelict agricultural site. Live acts include the homespun culture-jacking sonic experiments of Hacker Farm themselves alongside close collaborators including IX Tab and Kemper Norton, plus very special guests from further beyond including beguiling New York sound voyager Ashley Paul and films/performance from singular and seminal cross-discipline UK artist Hugh Metcalfe.

Hacker Farm are a duo based in Yeovil, Somerset who make experimental music from homemade analogue electronic instruments, usually made from everyday objects 'hacked into' and modified for use. As they put it themselves, this is “a celebration of the home-made, the salvaged and the hand-soldered.  DIY electronics performed on obsolete tech and discarded, post-consumerist debris.  Make-do and mend. Broken music for a Broken Britain.”

“Hacker Farm represent a kind of anti-Mumford & Sons, a sharp, electronic rural retort to the tweed-clad, sepia-hued faux-folk hootenanny” – The Guardian

Out Of Place is a roaming series of events that explores non-standard performance spaces in and around the Bristol area. A diverse line-up of international music makers and solo audio adventurers will respond to specially selected contexts including an abandoned farm, a shopping centre and a swimming pool...stirring up a sense of off-the-grid discovery for audience and performers alike. A succession of unmissable stereo field trips taking live music out of its comfort zone.
