Before his tragic gliding accident in august 1964 Peter Lanyon was working on a group of paintings which had resulted from a visit to Clevedon, near Bristol. The exhibition, for which we enclose a catalogue and invitation to the preview, includes the pencil studies, gouaches and four large paintings as well as the colour slides that Peter Lanyon took at the time he made his pencil studies. In addition to the Clevedon works, a collection of seventeen earlier drawings + gouaches are being shown. Most of the works in the exhibition are for sale. This exhibition will subsequently be shown at the Park Square Gallery, Leeds. The Arnolfini Gallery is particularly grateful to Mrs Sheila Lanyon and to Alan Bowness for making this exhibition possible.
The preview, to which all full members of the Arnolfini Gallery Scheme are invited, is on tuesday 27 October 20 00-22.00 hrs. The exhibition will continue until 26 november, monday-friday 10 00-19.00 hrs/saturday 10.00-13.00 hrs.
