Every day in Gallery 5, we present a series of artists’ films and videos and documentary screenings about migratory movements in the North African and Mediterranean region. Each loop takes approximately 90mins, but you can drop in at any point and stay for as little or as long as you like.

The relations between Muslim North Africa and Europe have undergone major transformations. Many media images suggest a constant (and undesirable) invasion of the European southern borders and feed the notion that even greater reinforcements will be necessary in the near future. At the same time, the European economy reaches further down into these areas to draw on vital resources and minerals and to buy cheap labour for outsourced production. By exploring these developments,

these video works demonstrate how relations between Europe and Africa are entering a new post-colonial phase.
