Astley Castle: Cities and other ruins. Talk with Stephen Witherford from Witherford Watson Mann.

Described by RIBA President and Stirling Prize judge, Stephen Hodder as “an exceptional example of how modern architecture can revive an ancient monument,” Astley Castle won the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2013. Stephen Witherford from the winning practice, Witherford Watson Mann will discuss the challenges of a conservation project that inserted contemporary design into the crumbling ruins of a 12th century castle in Warwickshire.

The Stirling Prize is awarded to the best new building of the year, constructed in the European Union and designed in the UK.
