Beyond the Fatigued Eye: A Season of Performance, Process & Work-in-Progress

24 January - 9 April 2017

We begin 2017 with an exploration of the gallery as a space of creation as well as for presentation, focusing on performance and participation.  Appropriating a phrase from Paul Neagu’s 1969 Palpable Art manifesto, the title asks us to reconsider the agency of art and artists beyond purely aesthetic considerations, asking how we can collectively respond to shifts and challenges that threaten culture’s relevance. Central to the season is an archival display presenting three seminal performances that took place at Arnolfini during the 1970s and ’80s. We are also running a series of artist residencies.

Our spaces will function in a different way during this time and there will still be lots for you to see – weekly announcements online and in the galleries will list what is available to see and take part in. If you'd like more information you can email a member of our .
