Join us for a special barbeque event, hosted by Jamaican restaurant Rice and Things and cooked on Oscar Tuazon's specially commissioned sculpture Live Steam Shift Whistle.
The striking sculpture, that doubles as a fire pit and barbeque, is located on the beautiful Bristol Downs - a picturesque spot for family picnics.
Having started life as a humble take-away, Rice and Things has quickly become a beloved Bristol institution and one of the top restaurants for Jamaican cuisine in the city. In 2011 the restaurant won national acclaim after featuring in Channel Four's Jamie's Great Britain.
Oscar Tuazon's sculpture Live Steam Shift Whistle is part of our summer exhibition The Promise. is an exhibition project that focuses on the relationship between a city’s design and the hopes and ambitions of its residents. Exhibitions and events will take place in Arnolfini galleries and across the city of Bristol throughout the summer.
The project has been made possible by the generous support of Simplyhealth - Art in the Public Realm Commission Award.
