Art Flavours plays with the possibility (and impossibility) of translating the specialised language of the art world into ice cream. Etchells' short video documents a meeting between the Italian critic and curator Roberto Pinto and the Italian ice-cream maker Osvaldo Castellari. In the subsequent conversation the critic/curator attempts to convey art historical themes to the ice-cream master, who soon puts his anxiousness and scepticism aside and gets to work producing flavours based on his understanding of these terms.
Ice cream produced for Etchells' Art Flavours project - Archive, The Body, Spectacle and Memory will be sold at Arnolfini every Saturday from 24 July.
