Uri Caine Trio
Best known for his subversive reworkings of Mahler and Bach here New York pianist and composer Uri Caine makes his first Bristol appearance in the more familiar territory of the jazz piano trio. Emerging from the cutting edge downtown jazz scene in New York, and with musical associates including Dave Douglas and Don Byron, his playing reflects influences from Herbie Hancock and even Oscar Peterson. With a rhythm section featuring the ever-inventive Drew Gress on bass and Ben Perowsky on drums the trio packs a fierce punch combining harmonic adventurousness with powerful swing.
