Sunday 14 January – Sunday 4 March
Vito Acconci / Acconci Studio
PARA-CITIES: Models for Public Spaces

Vito Acconci is one of the most influential American artists to have emerged in the 1960s. His provocative and radical work has explored issues of private and public space. Recently Acconci has focused exclusively on architecture and the built environment, working with a team of architects, artists and engineers to design proposals for town squares, pedestrian malls and other public spaces. This exhibition of his recent work is installed in an environment designed by Acconci and his studio and includes architectural models, audio components, photographic materials, text panels and projected images. Despite his recognised importance as a historical figure and a contemporary practitioner, Acconci has rarely exhibited in the UK. This is his first solo exhibition here since 1975.

PARA-CITIES: Models for Public Spaces is supported by the Arts Council of England.
