The Bartered Bride
Saturday 6 March 2.30 pm
tickets £2 (students £1 50) WNO's new production of "The Bartered Bride" will use the brilliant new translation by Tony Harrison. The workshop will discuss the approach of the director Rudolf Noelte and will feature members of the cast. Smetana's delightful opera was first performed in Prague in 1866 and has held the stage ever since. Although its abundant tunefulness has allowed it to be treated merely as a folk opera, in fact the poignant story and heartfelt music combine to produce something rather more important.
