Emerging artist Ryan Curtis will lead a two hour workshop for young people.
Rituals, monuments and ancient astronaut theories all play a role as Ryan Curtis explores the indefinable properties of materials and structures. There is an interest in moments of potential collapse as objects teeter upon one another within this work, which spans across sculpture, installation, video, digital printmaking and performative actions.
In this workshop Ryan will be leading a group of young people to build a monument together, thinking about the different ways that objects and experiences can come together.
Ryan has exhibited in galleries and project spaces across the UK, recent projects and exhibitions include; Procession, a solo exhibition of work produced for the 2014 Artist Moving Image Award at Exeter Phoenix; Restore to Factory Settings, a two-person show alongside Felicity Hammond at Vulpes Vulpes, London; a three-month residency at Chisenhale Studios, East London; and a studio residency at Karst, Plymouth. Ryan is based in Plymouth.
Organised by Young Arnolfini, this workshop is free but places are limited. If you would like to attend please email firstname.lastname@example.org All participants must be aged between 16 and 25.
