Antonia Barnett-McIntosh

Born in New Zealand, Antonia Barnett-McIntosh is a London-based composer. She writes instrumental and vocal art music and has created music and sound design for dance, moving image, cross arts performances, plays and experimental theatre.

Her compositional concerns lie in the specificity of sound gestures: their variation, translation and adaptation; their essence and focus (and the blurring of that focus); often employing chance-based and procedural operations. She enjoys working with a diverse range of artists within and also outside of contemporary music composition.

Antonia's music has been performed in New Zealand, the UK, Europe, Scandinavia and the US. Recent performances include Red Note Ensemble, The RIOT Ensemble, NorthArc and Tudor Consort; Wigmore Hall, Barbican's Pit Theatre, Chisenhale Dance Space and The place; Taste Festival Berlin, Festspillene i Nord-Norge (North Norway Festival) and Capital Fringe Festival, Washington D.C. (Feb 2013).
