Loretta Fahrenholz

Berlin-based film maker and curator presents documentation of an influential performance project.

Return of the Blogs was a two week-long performance programme by the collective Grand Openings at the Museum of Modern Art in New York - one of the most ambitious experimental performance projects of the past decade. Collaborating with musicians, performance art scholars, sound artists, film makers, writers and friends, the group (consisting of the five core members Ei Arakawa, Jutta Koether, Jay Sanders, Emily Sundblad, and Stefan Tcherepin) composed a multifaceted live programme that related to the history of performance art in general, as well as MoMA's particular institutional structure. Loretta Fahrenholz filmed the events, the resulting piece being both documentation in itself, and a reflection on the nature of the role of documentation in contemporary performance practice.
