Join Residence artists Ella Good and Nicki Kent to discuss their current project, working with people who want to be astronauts.

Ella Good and Nicki Kent are live artists from Bristol who make work about meeting people, conversation, local and global communities, and the ways in which we collectively choose to live. Their work is often about creating social spaces that act as a meeting point between art and everyday life, where all kinds of dialogue can happen.

They will be discussing their current work A Decade With Mars – a long term project that sees Ella and Nicki meeting a group of people who want to be astronauts. Over a ten year time scale, they will create a body of work about how we live now, and how we might live in the future; an investigation into time, community and sustainability. They’ll be launching the project in six cities around the UK throughout Spring 2015 with a series of public weather balloon launches, which will carry cameras to the edge of space.

This event is part of Residence in residence. This month, Arnolfini’s level 1 galleries have become a temporary home to Residence, a collective of Bristol based artists who make performance and live art. United by a curiosity towards each other’s practices and a commitment to supporting each other, they share resources, space and knowledge.

Residence have recently moved out of The Milk Bar, where they were housed for the past six years under Bristol City Council’s Capacity scheme. They are now looking for a new space to call home.

Current Residence artists are: Action Hero, Astrid Breel, Alice Human, Bella Fortune, Ed Rapley, Ella Good & Nicki Kent, Folake Shoga, Ophelia Bitz, Jasmine Loveys, Jo Bannon, Sara Zaltash, Sylvia Rimat, Ria Hartley, Tom Marshman, Zoe Heron.
