A Rough Guide to… Linguistics

Sat 25 Mar 10.30pm – 4.00pm

£15.00/£8.00 concs

Coinciding with Mark Titchner’s exhibition It Is You, this study day will consist of both practical and discursive elements examining the role that artists play within the development and deconstruction of the written and spoken word. The day involves an examination of speech-sounds and vocal techniques from Slim Gaillards ‘Vout’ (from the 1930s) to Napalm Death and Bolt Thrower’s ‘Grindcore’ (1980 – present). Led by Mark Beasley, artist, curator and Stanley Picker Research Fellow in Fine Art at Kingston University.
