TALKS | CYCLING THE PAPER ROAD, THE SHIPPING PRESS

Presented as part of Bristol Artists Book Event #BABE2019 | In April 2017 two women – with only two bicycles packed with essentials and a willingness to explore the world - will start a 17 months journey tracing the history of paper along the silk roads and beyond. Hear them discuss their experiences.

The Shipping Press is Barbara Salvadori & Jack Blake. Jack and Barbara have vast experience working in the fields of graphic design, book arts and printmaking. For many years they have undertaken several project together delving into sustainability and the environment. In recent years, they set up a small design, print and book arts studio "The Shipping Press".

Venue - Dark Studio, Level 2, Arnolfini.


Bristol Artists Book Event (BABE 2019) is a biennial festival featuring the work of bookmakers and small presses from around the world. With more than 100 makers taking part, and prices starting from just a few pounds, there will be something for everyone. Presented by Arnolfini, with Sarah Bodman (Centre for Fine Print Research, University of the West of England) and Tom Sowden (Bath School of Art and Design, Bath Spa University).
