Babok: Asiel

Sunday 30 August 2015 to Monday 31 August 2015, 09:00 to 18:00

A magical, outdoor puppetry performance that brings abandoned household appliances to life. Part of the Bristol Festival of Puppetry.

Babok creates a shelter for neglected domestic appliances, providing these cast-offs with a second life and transforming them into bizarre mechanical animals.

Asiel changes public space into an absurd moving theatrical playground. Asiel is visual object theatre dealing with the love / hate relationship between man and machine.

Asiel will move location during the festival. Between Friday 28 and Saturday 29 August, the performance will be located outside M Shed. Between Sunday 30 and Monday 31 August, Asiel wil be outside Arnolfini.

Babok is a venture of Guido Bevers and Carina de Wit from Amsterdam, Holland. The two of them met while working in the visual theatre company Warner & Consorten, where they were both artistic core-members. With this company they performed at leading festivals and collaborated with different groups and artists all around the world.

They started Babok in 2005. Together they want to devise renewed theatre for the public space. Small scale projects, accessible to everyone. Performed in an existing reality; people’s daily life- environment.
