A new presentation of Clare Thornton's 'Corridors, Stairways & Corners: Selected traces of performance 1976-1998' to accompany our performance archive display.

To accompany the three key performances there will be a new presentation of Corridors, Stairways & Corners: Selected traces of performance 1976-1998. This artist book was developed by Clare Thornton during a residency in 2013 in which she responded to archival materials held at Arnolfini. Using documentary photographs, brochures and programme notes, Thornton is interested in how we might get to know past art-works through ‘doing’ them. She selects six dance pieces that took place at Arnolfini, including Rosemary Butcher's Passage North East and through concrete poetry and cut-up techniques invites the visitor to revive traces of dance performance in the building.

Displayed as large prints in Gallery 2, 21st February - 23rd March.
Copies of the original book will be available in the bookshop.
