Offsite - Watershed: Phantom Boy (PG)

Saturday 22 October 2016 to Saturday 29 October 2016, 12:30 to 16:00

Don't miss the new, beautifully hand-drawn animated film from the makers of A Cat in Paris.

Hospitalised with a serious illness, 11-year-old Leo discovers that he has an incredible superpower - the ability to leave his body and fly around the city, passing through walls just like a phantom. When a mob kingpin plans to steal New York City’s power supply Leo teams up with wheel chair bound police officer Alex and fearless reporter Mary to bring him down and save the city.

In an era of CG blockbusters this is a reminder of the intimate pleasures of hand drawn animation, from the makers of A Cat in Paris. The film is packed with imaginative details, with nods to film noir, graphic novels, Picasso, Hergé’s Tintin and the abstract cityscapes of Jacques Tati and is a welcome superhero film with a difference that is both innovative, funny and surprisingly moving.

Recommended age: 8+

Please note that this film is rated PG and should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch though parents should consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.
