From Her Point Of View: The Screenings

Thursday 29 June 2017, 18:15 to 21:15

Join us for a celebration of female filmmaking and local talent at the first public screening of two short films created as part of Knowle West Media Centre’s ‘From Her P.O.V’ project.

Hear the creators discussing their work, and conclude the evening with a screening of the award-winning feature film Mustang.

Working with Knowle West Media Centre and the ‘From Her Point Of View’ project, Bristol Film Festival are delighted to present ‘From Her P.O.V: The Screenings’.

Women in the film and television industry are under-represented in many areas. Earlier this year, 14 women began the ‘From Her P.O.V.’ course, specifically designed to give women the training and support to make their own films.

The two resulting short films, Blood Warriors and Black Cherry, have been developed by the crews from start to finish, and they are premiering at this event. Highly original and each with their own distinct character, the films are a testament to the creativity and diversity of local filmmaking.

Each film will be followed by a Q&A with the crew, and the evening will conclude with a screening of the award-winning Mustang.

From Her Point of View is a filmmaking programme run by Bristol-based arts organisation Knowle West Media Centre (KWMC). It aims to support women to progress in the TV and film industries by offering the training, support and facilities to make their own films. Between January and May 2017 14 women aged 18+ received weekly training and support at KWMC, covering topics from scriptwriting and working with actors to sound recording and lighting. From Her POV is supported by funding from Creative Skillset’s Film Skills Fund, with BFI’s Film Forever National Lottery funds. For more details visit here
