A sound and light installation created by Helen Cole with Breathing Fire, Laura Hester, Lexie Marshall, Lottie Poulet and over 100 women and girls from Bristol. Presented with the support of Arnolfini.

A refusal to be silent

For all those who will follow

In Autumn 2018, 120 women and girls aged 8 to 85 from across Bristol raised their voices. In tribute to those who have gone before them and calling out to empower future generations in the fight for women’s equality.

Join the Light Makers to create and add your light to the We Are Warriors installation. Each light represents a woman. Together they burn bright.

We Are Warriors is commissioned by Bristol Women’s Voice for the Deeds Not Words programme of events to mark 100 years since the first women were allowed to vote.

Helen Cole’s work has been recognised and presented numerous times across the UK and internationally from Australia to Brazil, Europe and the US. Her work has been commissioned by Barbican, Spill Festival, Venice Performance Art Festival, Performance Space Sydney, Panorama Festival (Rio de Janeiro) and PS122 (New York).

We Are Warriors is commissioned by Bristol Women’s Voice for Deeds Not Words, a programme to mark 100 years since the first women were allowed to vote. Produced by In Between Time, with the support of Arnolfini. Funded by Government Equalities Office and Arts Council England.
