Bristol-born Tippett returns to perform his latest composition The Nine Dances Of Patrick O’Gonogon commissioned by Richard Wiltshire. This will be the first performance of this piece outside of London.

A key figure in European art music, Bristol-born Keith Tippett is one of the most important jazz musicians, improvisers and composers of the last forty years. Tippett first came to prominence in London in the late 60s, with his big band Centipede, a 50-piece orchestra which comprised of many prominent jazz and rock musicians of the time. Together they recorded one double album, Septober Energy.

Tippett has been involved in 3 distinct areas of music for four decades working with contemporary, avant-garde and improvising musicians.  Over these years Tippett has built up a body of work that has included performance, composition, recordings, broadcasts, masterclasses, film scores, workshops and children’s education projects.
