KIT EDWARDES’ work, on show in the restaurant from 10 January to 21 February, explores the ‘Society of the Spectacle’ in a series of linked pieces in which word and image are brought into inventive new relations — producing new analytical (political) meanings.
The Most Valued Symbol of Your Devotion utilizes the rhetoric of advertising to present men’s uneasy relation with the objects they possess and indicate the power relations involved in that possession; while The Marlborough Series places an omnipresent consumer product in the context of American military and economic imperialism.
