Maria Thereza Alves is a Brazilian artist and co-founder of Brazil’s Green Party. Since 2005 she has been visiting Bristol to research its maritime history through the non-native plants that populate the harbour side. For Alves these plants are intimate visual markers of the economic and social history of Bristol, which she has developed further in the form of a proposal for a permanent Ballast Seed Garden in Bristol. Alves will talk about her garden concept and wider practice.
