Mark Cousins: Scene by Scene
Followed by Touch of Evil (12)
(Dir Orson Welles USA 1958 108m b/w) 8.40pm
Mark Cousins first developed the Scene by Scene format, which he now presents on television, whilst Director of the Edinburgh Film Festival. To coincide with the publication of the book Scene by Scene: Film Actors and Directors Discuss Their Work (Laurence King £25) Cousins, in conversation with Gareth Evans, will talk us through some of the best of Scene by Scene, with both serious discussion of pivotal cinematic moments and a generous helping of celebrity gossip. Mark Cousins is an author, film director and producer.
Followed by a screening of Welles’ classic Touch of Evil (in its original 1958 release version), which is featured in Scene by Scene. A sweaty noir thriller, playing on corruption and moral ambiguity, as self-righteous Charlton Heston locks horns with old-style detective Welles.
