Martin Parr : Think of England
Martin Parr will give an illustrated talk to celebrate the publication of his latest book Think of England (Phaidon £24.95) England has always been a central theme in Parr’s work. This latest collection is a comic, opinionated, affectionately satirical photo-essay about the identity of England. He has always had the ability to transform the obvious into the surprising, to reinvent the clichés of ‘Englishness’ as provocative revelations. This book, his first specifically on the subject of England, contributes to the debate about what it means to be English.

Martin Parr is a photographer with the Magnum agency. His hugely influential work has been exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad. His published works include Signs of the Times (Cornerhouse), Common Sense (Dewi Lewis), Last Resort (Dewi Lewis) and the immensely popular Boring Postcards (Phaidon).
