Packet Garden
Julian Oliver
Packet Garden is a digital artwork commissioned by Arnolfini and developed by Julian Oliver, an Australian artist currently working in Berlin. By monitoring computer internet use, his software feeds web traffic information into a digital world that generates its own unique topography and vegetation. Using ‘network regionalism’ the programme assigns different plant strains and growth patterns to different global file locations. Over time the landscape becomes a detailed representation of global internet use, which users can explore and cultivate. Packet Garden is available for free download from 1 February at for both Mac and PC. Please check the website for recommended system requirements.
