STRINGS AND THINGS Creative Therapy with Fibres. This work has been done by mentally handicapped people living at Leigh Court Hospital Abbots Leigh, near Bristol. These men and women of all ages between 30 and 80 attend the occupational therapy department every day. Their mental ages range from approximately 4-10 years. Weaving may seem an unlikely and demanding activity for people with limited concentration, understanding and poor co-ordination, but presented with a range of fibres each person reacts m an individual way at his own level. A far deeper satisfaction results if no rigid technical instruction is given. Liz Luckwell, Leigh Court
