Stuart Sherman - The Twelfth Spectacle: Language

Thursday 30 April 1981, 22:00

STUART SHERMAN The Twelfth Spectacle: Language (British Premiere) Films and performance: 6 pm Friday 1 May
STUART SHERMAN Sherman merely manipulates everyday objects (this time including tape recorder), like a magician's apprentice whose sleight of hand skills are slightly askew. The performances are deadpan juxtapositions of objects and ideas, meant to shake up people's preconceptions about words, relationships, concepts. They're peculiar, idiosyncratic and just deadly serious enough to be wonderfully funny. (New York Daily News)
