Arnolfini’s Summer Music Series brings you Berghain, Panorama Bar and LAB local, DJ October AKA Malestripper – a Turkish born, New York raised and Bristol based producer and DJ.
October’s latest production project with Borai named, SPIRITFLESH; is an all-consuming, deeply rich haunting sound. Skeletal rhythms, guttural bass, percussive syncopation, hissing and snarling synthetic interplay dances with with otherworldly ambiance, whilst the drum sound marches like an external heartbeat, sometimes in the distance, over the hills, sometimes from deep down below.
DJ October takes great influence ranging from Post-Punk, EBM, Dub, Disco, Industrial, Acid and New Beat.
For this series DJ October will combine original and prerecorded material with live FX over a LAB style DJ set. This is a rare performance for him to showcase and blend the non-linear sonic world hes associated with; alongside the more accessible sounds one would’ve found cruising New York’s Meatpacking district in the early 80’s. Combining seediness and glamour, past and present – set to a Bristol Harbourside backdrop, this should not be missed.
