A CIA agent (John Malkovich), sacked for a drink problem, retreats to the writing of his operations memoirs. Blackmail comedy ensues, and though these ridiculous proceedings were conceived at the same time as No Country, they provide a quite different kind of delight. Aided by inspired performances, the film is more superb Coen Brothers material.
