SOLD OUT: IC-Visual lab: The Worst Kind of Betrayal. An evening with Natasha Caruana

Thursday 26 October 2017, 19:00 to 20:30

IC-Visual Lab presents an evening with photographer Natasha Caruana who will talk about cheating, performing love and excess.

Artist Natasha Caruana uses photography and sound to explore dysfunctional relationships. Addressing themes such as cheating, performing love and excessive fighting, her work questions the impact of technology on modern relationships. Caruana will discuss her seminal photographic series “Married Man” and her recent commission “Timely Tale”. While “Married Man” documents the infidelity of 80 married men, “Timely Tale” explores the health and love life of her mother. Her work draws on material from archives, research projects, the internet and personal stories.

Natasha Caruana is a photographer living and working in London. In 2014 Caruana was awarded the BMW Artist in Residence Award, which led to a monograph and solo exhibitions at Les Rencontres d’Arles and Paris Photo 2015. In 2015 Caruana completed a research residency commissioned by the Open Data Institute, the resulting work will be exhibited at FACT, Liverpool, 2017. Caruana’s work has been included in numerous publications and international exhibitions, such as Public, Private, Secret, International Centre for Photography, New York, and Narratives and Narrative Forms, Lianzhou Foto Festival, China. Caruana was nominated for the 2014 Foam Paul Huf Award, and selected by the Humble Arts Foundation as one of 18 leading female art photographers currently working in the UK. She has a Masters Degree in Photography from the Royal College of Art, London, and is a Senior Lecturer of Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, UK.
