Jarosaw Flicinski belongs to a new generation of young Polish artists whose work reflects upon the modernist and constructivist tradition. Flicinski originally trained as an architect and later turned to painting. He produces monumental wall paintings composed of concentric ellipses, grids and patterns generating optically distorting physical environments that engage in a creative dialogue with the architecture and spaces they inhabit. For Flicinski painting is an autonomous language in a constant process of transformation and evolution. The artist will talk about his practice and his new commission for Bristol.
