UWE Fine Art/Art in the City Lecture Series: Matt Stokes

Friday 21 December 2012, 23:00
Free

Matt Stokes' practice stems from a long-term inquiry into subcultures, particularly focusing on how music acts as a catalyst for groups to form, shaping and influencing people's lives and identities. His works are often made by immersing himself in a setting through which collaborations with informal communities arise. After collecting information related to their histories and values, Stokes produces artworks that depart from this research and take on a life of their own, through films, installations and events.
