VISUAL POETRY EXHIBITION

In conjunction with the Visual Poetry exhibition there will be an evening of performance by the four participating poets on 19 Jan 7.00pm Tickets £5/£3 Concs

The poet Charles Olson’s theories on ‘projective verse’ and ‘field composition’ were a major influence on many of the students he taught whilst at Black Mountain College. Taking the visual form of the poem as a starting point this short exhibition features the work of four contemporary poets each with an individual approach to visual expression. Including work by Tom Leonard in collaboration with the artist Calum Colvin, B.M. Bottomley, Maggie O’Sullivan, and Brian Catling and Sarah Simblett’s short film of Nicholas Johnson’s visual poem The Lard Book.
